The Impact of the International Policy of the Omride Dynasty on Israel, 2003
These policies brought Israel to a high point both economically and politically. Thus, they serve as a distinguishing characteristic between the Omrides and the kings that preceded them in the Northern Kingdom of Israel.
The research for this dissertation is based upon the pertinent biblical material in the books of 1 and 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles, and Micah; archaeological data attributed to the ninth century B.C.E. at the ancient cities of Samaria, Jezreel, Hazor, Megiddo, and Dan; and extra-biblical inscriptions discovered in Assyria, Moab, and Israel. Secondary works were consulted in the development of a historical framework for the Ancient Near East, and more specifically the Levant, in the ninth century B.C.E. In addition, secondary works were consulted to present differing opinions of the Omride Dynasty.
